Description
This project was born from my deep admiration for three of the greatest musicians of the 20th century — Miles Davis, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett — who all master a personal language of stark originality, without labels nor concessions, reflecting with a painful lucidity the art from our time.
My love for this music urged me to imagine it played on the guitar and to realize these adaptations based on one principle, that of translating faithfully the idiom of the composer through what my instrument offers him : its intimate sonority, its subtle colors and its touching fragility.
If my search is successful, the greatest contribution of this approach will be to throw light on the richness of a music, much more than on the way to translate it, preserving its pure emotion and its unlimited flight. All this can be even better explained while enjoying the sublime presence of Badi Assad. I hardly find just words able to express my feeling of gratitude for her art.
