Description
Vladimir Mikulka is part of the great mainstream of musicians of the Czech Republic, a country of high musical culture, justly nicknamed the “music conservatory of Europe”. In addition to his abundant discography of classical guitar repertoire, Vladimir Mikulka is also the favorite interpreter of East composers such as Stepan Rak (Czech Republic) and Nikita Koshkin (Russia).
Stepan Rak’s musical universe is surprisingly rich, classical than again modern, and sometimes colored with a touch of the romantic. Rak constructs his music using classical patterns, but expresses his ideas in a modern and extremely personal fashion, constantly exploring the limits of the guitar. His sophisticated technique serves a vast repertoire of sound atmospheres and emotions. Everything is a source of inspiration to this prolific composer: a tragic anecdote (the murder of a young girl in a night club) presents itself with the exhilarating rhythm of modern disco (The Last Disco), the climax of a suspense movie after the film Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock is heightened by the trickling sounds of a music box, mixed with tones of anguish (Voces de profundis), the evocation of Summer (Andante), memories of a famous guitar player (Homenaje a Tárrega), or his masterful variations on a charming musical theme from a film on King Charles IV (Variations on a Theme by Jaromira Klempire).
