As a researcher and multi-instrumentalist, Paulo Bellinati\u2019s career has been entirely devoted to Brazilian music. In his album \u201cGuitares du Br\u00e9sil\u201d, Bellinati revives typical Brazilian musical styles like\u00a0lundu<\/u>,\u00a0ch\u00f4ro<\/u>,bai\u00e3o<\/u>,\u00a0maxixe<\/u>\u00a0and\u00a0Brazilian waltz<\/u>, when playing several types of guitars: the cavaquinho \u2014 the Brazilian soprano guitar with four steel strings, D, G, B, D, the\u00a0viol\u00e3o tenor<\/u>\u00a0\u2014 a four steel string guitar, C, G, D, A, theviola caipira<\/u>\u00a0\u2014 a five course steel string folk or \u201ccountry\u201d guitar, the\u00a0viol\u00e3o de seresta<\/u>\u00a0\u2014 a steel string Brazilian old guitar and the\u00a0viol\u00e3o de sete cordas<\/u>\u00a0\u2014 a seven string guitar with an extra bass (C) played in ch\u00f4ro, samba and regional music.
\nAfter graduating from the Conservatory of S\u00e3o Paulo, where he studied classical guitar with Isaias Savio, Paulo Bellinati went to live in Switzerland for six years. He studied at the Conservatory of Geneva and taught at the Conservatory of Lausanne. His first solo album \u2014 Garoto \u2014 released in 1988 in Brazil, results from his research concerning a great Brazilian guitarist and composer: Anibal Augusto Sardinha, nicknamed Garoto. Another album \u201cThe Guitar Works of Garoto\u201d, a CD and music book published by GSP, contains Garoto\u2019s complete guitar music, transcribed, arranged and played by Paulo Bellinati.
\nIn 1988, Paulo Bellinati won the composition prize of the 8\u00e8me Carrefour mondial de la guitare in Martinica with his piece\u00a0Jongo<\/u>\u00a0for solo guitar. His arrangements and compositions are played by Sergio and Odair Assad, Carlos Barbosa Lima, Cristina Azuma\u2026 Paulo Bellinati performs in solo concerts, plays with instrumental groups like \u201cPau Brasil\u201d, or with artists like Edu Lobo, Chico Buarque and Johnny Alf.
