About the artist
A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, Starobin lists his works with Leon Fleisher, Elliott Carter and Pina Carmirelli as influential in shaping his musical path. Starobin’s work with the guitar embraces the repertoire originally composed for the six-string guitar, often playing this music on period instruments. His encouragement of twentieth century composers has resulted in the composition of several hundred new works in a variety of genres.
In 1981, Starobin’s dual devotion to contemporary music and recording came together in the creation of Bridge Records, his own label which perfectly reflects his profound musical
